Mongol Invasion of Japan (元寇): Part 1 - Some quick myths about the invasion (WIP) A modern depiction of the Mongol invasion made by  Kawashima Jimbei II Edit: This is a work in progress, but I wanted to share some preview after having miss few months. Hope you will enjoy! Some forewords from the author of this blog Normally I don't make introduction about the blog itself in my articles, as I think about this project more like a timeless collection of articles dedicated to Japanese military history. However, this time I feel that it is needed, and instead of making a separate post, I'll like to write something here, before getting to the article. I think that for everyone, 2020 was a very rough year to get through for the global situation and the period of uncertainty we have ahead of us. As I'm writing this (July 2020), I didn't expect to find so much trouble in finding the time, the energy and the dedication to write something worth of the attention ...

Japanese Swords "Mythbusting" - Part 1 Oyamada Bitchu no Kami Masatatsu 小山田備t中守昌辰 holding a Japanese sword while facing a volley of bullets,  from Koetsu yusho den Takeda-ke nijushi-sho 甲越勇將傳武田家廾四將 by Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Another important premise is that this article won't be the average " katana mythbusting ...

Cagayan Battles of 1582: Debunking the Hoax  A picture taken from the Spanish comics "Las Espadas Del Fin Mundo" depicting the fictitious battle. Before starting to write anything about the Cagayan battle, I would like to make a premise: I'm not really a fan of the kind of debates you could find on the internet about hypothetical battles, deadliest warrior scenarios or something like that. Honestly, I find the entertainment value of such discussions healthy only when they are educated and based on logic, historical accuracy and knowledge of the topic people want to discuss. However , the average quality of these debates is usually extremely low : people make their arguments based on wrong pop culture stereotypes and " fanboyism", which turn the whole discussion very quickly into a toxic one, where people just insult each other. In my Blog here you will never find anything similar; this project was born with the purpose to create a place on the internet...
